We have the view that companies which adhere to best industry practices on issues related to environment, social and governance (ESG) norms, ultimately benefit from these practices.
We support the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing (UNPRI) as well as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The UNPRI covers Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues with an emphasis on encouraging disclosure, defining targets and continued progress towards those targets. The GRI is a common global framework that companies can adopt to measure ESG factors (eg. greenhouse gases).
Along with owning best in class companies, we believe in an approach which supports transparency and positive engagement through shareholder involvement. Our proxy voting service provides our clients with the option to vote in line with Socially Responsible issues and shareholder resolutions. Furthermore, because our client portfolios are comprised of individual securities (i.e. not pooled funds), we are also able to select companies which meet specific client needs. |
